Interfaith Moral Fusion Justice Revival

June 18, 2018 @ 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm

A New and Unsettling Force: Confronting the Distorted Moral Narrative.
6:00pm – Rally & March at Wilson & Lakeshore viaducts
7:00pm – Interfaith Moral Fusion Justice Revival at People’s Church

On Monday May 14, Illinois’s arm of the PPC, simultaneously alongside 39 other states, began six weeks of Nonviolent Direct Action at the capital with the goal of raising up moral voices with new narratives, showing faces and lifting voices of those impacted by the issues, and building an initial power base across the state. June 18 marks the final Monday of this 40-day work, and we are closing this moment with a culmination event locally in the Uptown community. We are beginning with a rally at the viaducts located at Wilson and Lake Shore Drive, a location where many homeless people were evicted last year as the city began repairs and now the city is trying to install bike lanes to prevent homeless people from returning. Following the rally, we are marching through the streets to the People’s Church for the second arm of the evening, the Interfaith Justice revival. This event is a culmination of the last six weeks, honoring those who have traveled to Springfield and risked arrest while also lifting testimonies from various faith traditions and impacted individuals, selections from a collective People’s Choir and other artists,  moments of ritual centered on the need for collective action, and you, (which we are hugely excited) Rami Nashashibi, delivering our 20-minute keynote address.
