SUMMARY:Eastern Association Fall Meeting
DESCRIPTION:\n\nHello Friends!\n\nThis year’s Eastern Association Fall Business Meeting\, "The Ministry of Administration\," focuses on practical "news you can use" to help clergy\, laity\, and congregations avoid mistakes and pitfalls leading to legal and financial liabilities.\n\nThis in-person gathering will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday\, September 28 at St. John UCC in Kankakee. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m.\n\nJames Abbott from the firm of Litchfield-Cavo will present on "Avoiding Legal Pitfalls in the Hiring\, Managing\, and Firing of Staff."  Shawn Polzin from the Insurance Board will lead a workshop on the topic "Is Your Church Adequately Insured?" Later in the day\, the Conference Governance Task Force will discuss the proposed restructuring of the Illinois Conference\, which will be voted on during the Conference Annual Celebration in November.\n\nWe also will elect officers for next year.\n\nVoting representation shall consist of one lay delegate from each local congregation and all ordained\, licensed and commissioned ministers with standing in the Eastern Association. In addition\, each church shall be entitled to representation by one voting youth delegate (a person at least 14 years of age\, but not older than 22). A church of 800 or more members shall have one additional delegate and one additional youth delegate. And\, of course\, any church member can attend!\n\nRegistration is being done online through Realm. Cost is $30 per person\, which covers lunch and speaker fees (please specify any dietary needs during registration).\n\nYou can pay online directly when registering by choosing "Pay Now" or you can pay by cash or check by choosing the "Pay In-Person" option during checkout. Please make checks payable to "St. John UCC" and include "EA Fall Meeting" in the memo line.\n\nThe deadline to register is September 15th.
